Forging Partnerships

Ensuring the  rights of children living and working on the streets is a complex and challenging process and requires a inter-sectoral  and integrated approach. As a caring community  we have to converge to make this possible. We believe that a collective and collaborative interaction of various stakeholders including government, civil society and agencies is necessary for this.

State Governments

Rainbow Homes Model was approved by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan of Central Government and subsequently many  States adopted it under different schemes such as ‘Residential Special Training Centre’ (RSTCs), Residential Bridge Courses (RBC), Residential Hostels of Urban Deprived Children scheme (UDC) etc.

The 8 States which have adopted the  model so far include Bengal, Delhi, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Bihar. Each of the respective State/district SSA departments have offered space in Government schools and buildings and other infrastructure support to us and to partner NGOs,to run Rainbow Homes and Sneh Ghars. In Kolkata, they are being run in Loreto Convents as it was where the “Rainbow Model”  originated and therefore  the same is being continued.
State City No. of Govt schools/Buildings
